More about me
In addition to the blogging and print journalism on green topics, I have written a book — not yet published — with the working title of “Fat Boy, Thin Man” that is predominately a memoir of obesity. I was over 300 pounds for most of the time from age 16 until age 34, and then underwent a series of changes wholly aided by others that have let me live in a normal-sized body for more than 15 years. Normal-sized is much better, I assure you.
I didn't create any of the methods that led to my turnaround, so I am no guru. Other people shared their experiences with me, and now I'm trying to do the same, if in a slightly broader way. The book goes beyond memoir in a couple of important ways, to describe how public policy — such as how reconfiguring health care — could arrest the unchecked spread of obesity in America.
I've been revising the book most recently, and not actively pursuing representation and publishing opportunities, but I am seeking an agent, if you happen to have a really savvy one in your family or something.
In my home life, I’m a prospective father, awaiting a domestic
adoption for which my wife Georgina and I were certified in December
2006. The wait is definitely longer than we expected, but I try to
remain aware that everything happens in God’s time, and that the right
child will arrive at the perfect time.
